Job Description

Federal Working Group Inc. is currently seeking a Network Engineer. The Network Engineer will develop and maintain functional and secure networks. This candidate will troubleshoot and optimize the customer’ networks. To ensure success as a Network Engineer, you should have extensive experience working with enterprise networks.

  • Collaborating with the network engineering team to design, implement, and maintain network infrastructure
  • Installing and configuring networking hardware
  • Creating and implementing network security measures
  • Conducting regular network performance tests
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Knowledge of L2 & L3 protocols. (STP, BGP, MPLS, L2VPN, L3VPN, VRRP)
  • Knowledge of Internet Service Provider operations & application protocols. (DNS, HTTP, SMTP)
  • Understanding of network automation tools
  • Excellent network troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Experience in server operations – VMWare, Server Operating Systems, is a plus
  • Basic understanding of at least one scripting or programing language


  • Configures and installs network devices and appliances
  • Monitors network performance and integrity
  • Assists in the planning and deployment of new network infrastructure
  • Research hardware and software solutions and create plans, including layouts and product specifications
  • Research and analyze network technologies and present suggestions to improve existing network
  • Subject Matter Expert: Firewall, Router, Switch
  • Proficient supporting vendor IOS command line for Cisco networks
  • Experience with Cisco Multilayer Switched Networks, Nexus 9k, 7k, 5k, 2k
  • Experienced with VXLAN Networks, BGP EVPN
  • Load Balancing skills, configuration, management. F5 Big IP, Viprion platforms, Advanced load balancing features such as global load balancing, geofencing
  • Knowledge of Cloud Computing and virtual networking – NSX, Virtual Switching, and Routing, SDWAN
  • Proficient in analysis and problem-solving, ability to work with other teams, and ability to assess customer needs and determining appropriate solutions
  • Demonstrated ability to understand and adhere to systems security and control procedures following departmental, vendor standards, and regulatory bodies

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in relevant work experience
  • 5+ years of industry experience in Network Engineering

Additional Preferred Qualifications

  • Certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, CCIE or JNCIA, JNCIS, JNCIE a plus
