Job Description

The Enterprise Systems Lead will manage a team of systems, storage, backup administrators and serve as technical lead providing support to our federal contract Enterprise Operations Management branch.

 

The systems lead may participate in risk management and preparation of technical reviews.  Provide guidance and direction into configuration management, data management, and O&M activities and best practices.  Participate in systems engineering activities which include one or more of the following: Concept of Operations formulation, requirements definition, system analysis and design, validation and verification, system integration and, system performance analysis.

 

The systems lead will coordinate multi-discipline support activities with multiple organizations. Provide solutions to complex problems of diverse scope where analysis of situation or data requires an in-depth evaluation of various factors.  Interact daily with supervisor, operations manager, and technical staff in all project specialties. Interactions with client counterparts on project matters within area of responsibility.

 

Must work well with general guidance, generate competent technical input for operations type documentation, be detailed and security oriented.  Must have excellent oral and written communications skills, as well as excellent interpersonal skills to deal with multiple contractors and government organization.  Must have worked in large enterprise class type environments, be in line with industry best practices, think outside the box, and be able to make recommendations to improve overall governance and support continuous improvement.

 

Responsibilities:

 

Candidate must have the following knowledge, experience, and abilities:

10 full-time years of progressive experience into an enterprise setting

  • Demonstrated progressive experience in the managing of a technical operations teams.
  • Extensive infrastructure and application support experience
  • Familiarity and practical application of advanced principles of ITIL/ITSM
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills required
  • Ability to present to executive management incident debriefs and root cause analysis reports
  • Must be familiar with source and artifact control, configuration and knowledge management
  • Be a customer advocate by consistently meeting, exceeding expectations and incorporating customer service into all aspects of work
Job Requirements

Hands-On Exposure:

  • SME level knowledge of BigFix including endpoint management, vulnerability & compliance remediation, inventory and lifecycle management
  • Demonstrated experience of BigFix design, implementation, and operations in large enterprises
  • Advanced knowledge of identity management solution such as CA PAM, SailPoint, etc
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Amazon Web Services (Public and GovCloud)
  • Advanced technical knowledge of the latest Microsoft and Red Hat operating systems
  • Knowledge of government security policies (FISMA, NIST, DHS4300, etc.)
  • Multi-platform scripting abilities (e.g. PowerShell, Bash, Python, etc.)
  • Hands on experience with tools like Ansible, Puppet or other similar CM type tools

Excellent active listening skills.  Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact effectively with all levels of personnel, elected officials, executive leadership, senior management, users, vendors and subcontractor personnel
  • Problem Solving: Natural inclination for planning strategy and tactics. Ability to analyze problems and determine root cause, generating alternatives, evaluating and selecting alternatives and implementing solutions
  • Results Oriented: Able to drive things forward regardless of personal interest in the task

 Education and Experience:

  • 10+ years of experience with a Bachelors in Computer Science or related field
  • In lieu of degree, a combination of education and 15 years of demonstrated hands on experience
  • ITIL v3 certification and/or formal training in ITIL/ITSM preferred, along with equivalent work experience
  • Any Microsoft, Red Hat or Amazon certifications are a plus
  • Comfortable in a fast pace work environment

Shift Work and Travel:

  • Base Shift hours: 8:00 AM ET – 5:00 PM ET, M-F (flexibility is required)
  • Must be available for on-call support as required
  • Limited/Occasional telework may be available

Security Requirements:

  • Candidate must be a U.S. Citizen and able to pass a Public Trust Assessment

Place of Performance:

Bowie Data Center in Bowie, MD with some local travel to the Suitland Federal Center located 20 minutes away in Suitland MD
